An Enhanced Sinr-based Call Admission Control in 3g Networks

This paper presents the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR)-based call admission control (CAC) as an effective technique that guarantees signal quality for admitted users. We propose a CAC model that admits users as long as the SINR exceeds a threshold ( th SINR ). To reduce blocking, we ensure that the threshold level is maintained at a lower bound ( th lb SINR − ), convenient to keep the blocking probability ( b P ) below a maximum value ( max − b P ). We simulate the CAC model with the Java programming language and evaluate the performance of the model. Simulation results show that our CAC scheme produce the expected performance that improves the network quality.
